Pilates

If you are unfamiliar about Pilates, The Pilates Method is an exercise system developed by Joseph Pilates and it strengthens the deep abdominal, back and pelvic floor muscles (our core), increases flexibility and improves overall health.

The Core

When performing Pilates exercises you target the transversus abdominus muscle—the deepest layer of the stomach muscles—that seldom gets used in exercise classes or day-to-day activities.

Pilates works from the inside out, concentrating on the deep core muscles of the body to create a girdle of strength and support that results in a supple and graceful frame. This core affects your entire body.

Stability, Mobility & Strength

Pilates training allows you to be more stable when standing, walking, and sitting. It also provides mobility and strength to areas such as the shoulder girdle, hips, knees, ankles, and feet. It improves flexibility, muscular strength, alignment, coordination and control, while also releasing stress and tension through the integration of breath.

Using a series of controlled and systematic movements—coupled with focused breathing—to engage both the body and the mind, Pilates is a safe and effective form of exercise that can be beneficial to just about everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.
